About us
Philosophy
MAIA Design Studio is an Interior Architecture & Design firm, founded by Shruti Jaipuria in 2011. At MAIA we believe in creating spaces that tell a story, serve a function and offer an ‘experience’.
We are a young energetic team and draw inspiration from the world around us, constantly questioning what we see and how it can be applied to the world of contemporary design. Nature, spirituality, mathematics, geometry, materials, texture, colour all provide us with an endless source of inspiration. Our work approach at MAIA demands detailed explorations in material, study of human behavior, and collaborations with artists, chefs and homeowners to create immersive experiences.
Our work has been published in leading design magazines (Elle Décor, Architectural Digest, Good Homes, Better Interiors etc.) and shortlisted for ‘Best Project - Good Homes Awards 2015, EDIDA Awards 2016, NTDV Awards 2016, and listed in Best Bar & Restaurant Designs’ by Architectural Digest India. Our Creative Director Shruti Jaipuria was awarded the FICCI Flo young designer award 2016.
At MAIA we aim to push the boundaries of design, and expand the possibilities of what can be done, and what has been done. Our designs are fresh, timeless and continuously evolving.

Shruti Jaipuria
Founder | Creative DirectorShruti studied Interior Design at the Parsons School of Design, New York and trained with design firm Tony Chi & Associates in New York. She returned to Bangalore and trained with local architects before founding MAIA Design in 2011.
Prior to getting immersed into the world of design, Shruti studied Business Administration at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and worked on projects for multiple Fortune 500 clients at the New England Consulting Group.
With this unique perspective as a designer, she is able to integrate the branding and business objectives that her clients have, into the design solution provided at maia.
She believes that we are undergoing a design revolution in India, and that as young Indian designers, we have finally started creating our own identity, instead of constantly looking westward. This along with the possibilities in terms of skilled labor, and opportunities that India offers, excites her. She believes that good design has the power to spur change, and hopes that MAIA can one day be a part of that.
When not busy at the studio, Shruti loves indulging in good food, travel, and playing with her two cocker spaniels.
